Soroptimist Awards Event 3/23/2006 ~ The Petroleum Club Soroptimist International annual awards event was held Thursday, at the Billings Petroleum Club. The event was attended by Soroptimist Club members and Award Recipients. Awards included: The Violet Richardson Award which is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools; Women's Opportunity Award which is Soroptimist’s major service project, aiding women seeking to improve their economic status by gaining additional skills, training and education; and, The Fellowship Award is for students that hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from and accredited college or university; and, present a plan of worthwhile post graduate study, leading to an advanced degree or to enhanced standing or competence in her business or profession. Award recipients included: Jamie Davies winner for the Violet Richardson Award presented by Soroptimist Susan Sullivan, Heidi Noelle Harris for the Women's Opportunity Award presented by Soroptimist Nita Snow, and, Erin Browning winner of the Fellowship Award presented by Soroptimist Anne Stapleton for member Nola Vollmer, who was unable to attend the awards event. ... continued ... Awards Committee chair Anne Stapleton presided over the introductions and presentations; with special recognition and thanks to Intermountain Distributing, represented by Bob Marler, as an eighteen year Corporate Sponsor of the Club fundraiser, "A Night of Wine and Roses". |
