Soroptimist Awards Event 3/22/2007 ~ The Petroleum Club Soroptimist International annual awards event was held Thursday, at the Billings Petroleum Club. The event was attended by Soroptimist Club members and Award Recipients. Awards included: The Violet Richardson Award which is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools; Women's Opportunity Award which is Soroptimist’s major service project, aiding women seeking to improve their economic status by gaining additional skills, training and education; and, The Fellowship Award is for students that hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from and accredited college or university; and, present a plan of worthwhile post graduate study, leading to an advanced degree or to enhanced standing or competence in her business or profession. Award recipients included: Kailyn Dorhauer for Freshman Mentoring Program winner for the Violet Richardson Award, Ronna Roll for the Women's Opportunity Award, and, Lauri Glenn and Joy Schacht, both winners of the Fellowship Award ... continued ... Charity One-to-One Award recipients include one individual from Family Tree, YWCA - Domestic Violence Service and Northern Rockie Radiation Oncology Center. Other recipients include:
The event was opened by President Joey Voto. Awards Committee member Vicki Dunaway presided over the introductions and presentations; with special recognition and thanks to Intermountain Distributing, represented by Brian Vernalic and Bob Marler, as an ninteen year Corporate Sponsor of the Club fundraiser, "A Night of Wine and Roses". |
